So much going on here.  Work has been keeping me so busy.  The SO is getting ready to come home next month on his R&R leave, and I have a new roommate.  V is a co-worker and fellow archy.  She's a seasonal but will be onboard until next March.  We are both similar in many ways as far as likes and ( Read more... )

We are FINALLY done with the PIT!!!

No more chopping...

No more falling down trees...

No more squaring and cutting and slicing...

No more swamping...

No more notching...

No more lugging 300-400 lb. honking logs up the hill...

No more getting popped in the eye from limbs as I make burn piles for the fire crews...

Yay!!!  Week One is done!  We had four volunteers pitch in, and while we are nowhere close to finishing, having them on board to help sure did make a difference.  We were able to get the sill logs (big honking logs) prepared and ready (although I still need to make the notches).  We also prepared about 8 good smaller logs that will be used for the ( Read more... )

Wow, what a week!  Another week of climbing up and down Columbia Mountain, another week of tackling the cabin to get it down without really destroying the good logs.  And some interesting finds along the way.  And it looks like we might not be camping up at the trailhead next week.  Stu won't be, so we feel, why should we?  Of course, it's nice to ( Read more... )
